Airolo is a municipality in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.HistoryIn the settlement of Madrano, Roman tombs from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD were found. On the 8th (Sun), grab your bike and head to Funivie Airolo-Pescium, examine the collection at Sasso San Gottardo, then take in the awesome beauty at St Gotthard Pass, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at La Chiesa Di San Giovanni Battista.
