One of the most famous paintings in the world, Leonardo da Vinci's Il Cenacolo is a 15th-century mural in the World Heritage-listed convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. This painting is one of the most studied, scrutinized, and satirized works of art ever. It was created for the artist's patron, Ludovico Sforza, and represents the scene of the last supper attended by Jesus and all of his disciples, as told by the Gospel of John. The painting measures 460 cm by 880 cm (180 in by 350 in) and covers an end wall of the convent's dining hall. Though little of the original painting remains today, repeated restoration efforts have prevented the image from completely deteriorating. To see this masterpiece, you must book tickets ahead of time, often months in advance. Go online to explore guided tour options and see available time slots. This is the site of the Last Supper by Leonardo. You have to book on line and follow the instructions for visiting exactly as the rules are strict about being on time - be late and you start again...

Definitely a must see in Milan and you can try to buy the tickets online although that option might be hard for last minute bookings. Alternative book tours via the normal websites and I would definitely recommend a guided tours. If the guide is good, you will learn a lot. You can only stay 15 minutes appreciating the last supper

Fascinating to see the original art work preserved after the world war bombing that almost destroyed it. The room is light and climate controlled to attempt to protect the artwork. We paid €15 each to get in. Worth the price to see it, but there's not much else to see. It's a very small museum. I believe tours start approximately every 15 to 30 minutes, but call ahead or be prepared for a short wait to enter. They only sell 35 tickets to each time slot and it's hard to predict demand. The pictures of the damage to the building and courtyard from the war were moving and help one to realize that, in war, no one cares about anything of significant value...only an appetite for destruction. It's heartbreaking to realize how self-destructive our human nature really is. Makes me long to put off the natural man and rise above those natural tendencies.
