In north-central Switzerland, Lucerne represents a small city boasting a well-preserved old town.
Venture out of the city with trips to Interlaken (Harderkulm & Parasailing & Paragliding) and Lake Brienz (in Brienz). There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Mt Pilatus, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Rigi, admire the striking features of Lucerne Station, and make a trip to The Nine Towers.

Stockholm, Sweden to Lucerne is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Stockholm in October: high temperatures in Lucerne hover around 17°C and lows are around 8°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Mon) early enough to drive to Grindelwald.
