City of Bears

The capital and political center of Switzerland, Bern sits on a peninsula formed by the U-shaped River Aare.
Step off the beaten path and head to Creux du Van and Fondation Pierre Gianadda. Appreciate the collections at Collection de l'Art Brut and Einstein House (Einsteinhaus). Venture out of the city with trips to HR Giger Museum (in Gruyeres), Fondation Beyeler (in Riehen) and Ambra Minerals (in Murten). There's still lots to do: ponder the world of politics at Federal Building (Bundeshaus), shop like a local with UNESCO-Altstadt von Bern, and see the interesting displays at Musee de l'Elysee.

Big Small Town

The financial hub of Switzerland, Zurich is most often associated with money and banks.
Start off your visit on the 20th (Sun): explore the world behind art at Museum of Art (Kunsthaus Zurich), then stop by Confiserie Sprungli, then wander the streets of Bahnhofstrasse, and finally stop by Niederdorf. On the 21st (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the masterpieces at Museum Rosengart Collection, identify plant and animal life at Mt Pilatus, and then wander the streets of Altstadt Luzern.
